SCS is supporting the development of the microelectronics sector by organising the 4th edition of the MICRO INNOVATION DAY, which combines two events on the subject: “Microelectronics & Electronics – A challenge for the future” and the “Launch of the I-novMicro innovation programme”.

These two days brought together a large number of public and private partners:

  • On 16 March, at the Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etienne in Gardanne, bringing together experts from industry, academia and training on the theme of “IoT & Smart Energy”.
  • On 17 March, at STMicroelectronics in Rousset, to sign the public-private partners’ commitment for the I-NovMicro programme.

This fourth edition of the MICRO INNOVATION DAY welcomed guests and speakers from Limoges, Grenoble, Chambery and the South region, all experts from the industrial, academic and training worlds related to electronics and microelectronics.

The day was introduced by Olivier Chavrier, Director of Pôle SCS, Laurent Renaux, Director of the I-novMicro Campus and Jacques Fayolle, Director of the Ecole des Mines St Etienne. The floor was then given to the various speakers who presented the latest methods and technologies for managing and storing energy in connected objects (Power Management, Energy Harvesting in Microelectronic Circuits & IoT).

It was also an opportunity to recall the challenges of industrial and technological sovereignty, ecological transition and the opportunities for the industry and its players in the region.

Then, 4 teams of engineering students (ISEN Yncréa Méditerranée Toulon, Polytech Marseille, et Arts et Métiers ParisTech – École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers Aix-en-Provence), who participated in the I-NOVgames Hackaton, launched in September 2022 with the support of STMicroelectronics, had the opportunity to present their projects on « IoT for tomorrow’s smart energy » and receive advice from key players and companies in the regional electronics and microelectronics sector.

Finally, directors of training programmes in microelectronics and electronics presented their latest initiatives to the industrial players present, with the aim of promoting recruitment and meeting the skills needs and requirements of the sector, including the training courses developed as part of the European ECoVEM project, a partner of the event.

The following day, the official launch of I-novMicro was held at STMicrolectronics in Rousset. This programme is just the beginning as a second version is already underway with new partners from the region and an expanded consortium.

Pôle SCS would like to thank all the participants and speakers at this event : Campus d’Excellence Industrie du futur – Sud Polytech Marseille Carrières, École des Mines de Saint-Étienne, Yncréa Mediterranée Research and Development, Arts et Métiers ParisTech – École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers, INES – Institut National de l’Energie Solaire, UIMM, Laurent Renaux, Philippe Marc, Romain Laffont, Christine BAZE, Jacques Fayolle et Olivier Chavrier.
