RUBY

Radio UWB pour les réseaux corporels

The aim of the RUBY project is to implement an impulse UWB radio module, dedicated to BAN applications and in line with the major options of the IEEE 802.15.6 standardization group, to which members of the consortium have participated. In particular, the system we will design will be based on the following points:
– A very innovative architecture, which mixes coherent and non-coherent reception principles. This choice, motivated by the broad range of speeds and applications targeted will produce a radio that is both powerful, uncomplicated and low-power
– The RF part will consist of a circuit designed to operate in the European band [6-8.5] GHz.
– A very optimized digital analog conversion principle
– Miniature UWB antennas, designed for use very close to the human body.
The final goal of the project is to integrate all these contributions in a prototype demonstrating the radio transmission of an HD film between a player on the belt and video glasses. By deliberately choosing the most restrictive BAN application, this demonstration will validate the consortium’s scientific choices.
